She was reminded of wonders. Within that light, there might be an angel, an emperor or a diva. She could wish for a blessing from Archangel Michael, known to roost on the dome. She could imagine sage words from Marcus Aurelius, once entombed below. She could daydream of saving Tosca from her battlements leap. But Michael waved his bloody sword about, Marcus was cross the Visigoths nicked his urn, and Tosca insisted on dying for her art. The sunshine was blessing enough, and the greatest wonder was the happiness within herself, so she drank the day like wine.
